50 new vans by the end of March

Demand for flexible modes of transport is growing – Mobility’s responding by adding 50 vans to its fleet. The idea is to offer improved availability. From the end of March 2025, more than 200 vans will be available throughout Switzerland.

Lots of new vans in Zurich

Most of the vans will be stationed at existing Mobility locations, which will either be upgraded or converted.

There’s also a handful of new locations in the city of Zurich where only vans are stationed.

Tips for usage and booking

Anyone who’s ever needed a van at short notice for a move or a furniture purchase knows that the vehicles are particularly in demand at weekends. Our records show that the highest demand’s on Saturdays, followed by Fridays and Sundays.

  • Book ahead: it’s advisable to plan a few days in advance, especially if it’s for a Saturday.
  • Bring your own fastening materials:the vans have eyelets for securing the load, but you’ll need to bring your own straps or other fastening equipment.
  • Take care when manoeuvring:many people aren’t used to driving such a large vehicle. It’s always best to double-check your surroundings and look in the wing mirrors.

More than 30 electric vans

Mobility’s convinced that the answer to Switzerland’s mobility challenges is more car sharing. The transporter (van) vehicle category plays an important role here. Our vans are the most shared vehicle type in the entire fleet. In other words, they’re driven by the most varied range of users.

The good news is that some of the vehicles are electric – currently more than 30 of them. Mobility’s constantly working to increase the proportion of sustainable vehicles. “Mobility’s goal is to achieve net zero emissions by 2040,” says managing director Roland Lötscher. “To be able to achieve this, the entire Mobility fleet’s being electrified over the next few years.”
