Say goodbye to those autumn blues.

The typical line for us to take now would be “the leaves are falling”, “temperatures are dropping” and “autumn is here”. But things are different this time round. Now, it’s more like: OMG, was that supposed to be summer? Seriously? It’s suddenly gone cold – deal with it. And anyone who’d prefer not to suffer those autumn blues wrapped up in a blanket at home needs to get out there and get active. After all, as the saying goes: there’s no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing. So say goodbye to the blues and enjoy the autumn – which will hopefully be a golden one.

And this brings us straight to the subject of inappropriate clothing. If you want to go out into the big outdoors in autumn, you’d better be prepared for anything as far as the weather’s concerned. Genuine die-hard hikers defy all weathers – they even go out walking in hail and windstorms. There are lots of shelters, but one particularly inviting specimen is Aescher Berggasthaus – a small but refined mountain inn in Appenzellerland. You can get there by taking Ebenalp cable car and walking through the Wildkirchli caves. Not only do they serve delicious sausages there, the view of the landscape is truly magnificent, too.

The best place for go for some wild ups and downs is an amusement park. Roller coaster fans will find what they’re looking for on the loop-the-loop ride at Connyland by Lake Constance, while carousel fans with kids might will love Schongiland with its 380-metre toboggan run. Those not so well able to cope physically with a 70-degree incline can try their hand at a climbing park. At Atzmännig adventure park you can climb from tree to tree at dizzying heights – and then take the zip line down at the end. Sounds fun, don’t you think?

We say: don’t let those autumn blues get you down! In our beautiful country there are plenty of activities that’ll put a big smile on your face in no time. So, raise your tear-stained cheek from the pillow, do your digital research and hop in a Mobility car – then head out for some non-stop autumn fun.

Biking or cruising – that’s the question. Whichever your preferred mode, it’s time to get on your bike and out into the great outdoors. It has come to our ears that Clientis Flowtrail Marbachegg is superb for a wild bike trip – just take the train to Langnau im Emmental and from there, hop in a Mobility car to Marbach. You then take the mountain railway to the start of the flow trail on Marbachegg – and your reward is a steep four-kilometre run down the slopes. OK, OK, we get it – not everyone is a death-defying action fan. For those who prefer a more relaxed cruise on asphalted roads, we recommend the little town of Brienz. A relaxed bicycle ride for two around Lake Brienz with its turquoise waters definitely has both visual and sporting appeal.
