Sustainability is part of the cantonal performance mandate and is firmly established in the corporate culture of Zürcher Kantonalbank.
Zürcher Kantonalbank has business ecological measures in place with the aim of achieving a 15 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions by 2022 as compared to 2016 (4’401 t CO2), for example. One course of action it adopted a long ago as 2009 was sustainable transportation with Mobility. "Sustainable action is crucial to Zürcher Kantonalbank. In addition to Mobility, we offer our staff the ZVV BonusPass, and we switched our entire internal Mobility fleet to electrically powered vehicles in 2019," says Bich N. Phan, Performance Mandate Officer. The aim of changing to electric cars is to save 20 tons of CO2 per year.
Around 350 employees travel for work using their Mobility Business subscriptions – when visiting customers or valuing properties, for example. For trips to remote locations, they use one of the six electric cars that are reserved exclusively for them at two main sites in Zurich. For longer distances, they take the train and then use a Mobility car. After all, their subscription give them unlimited access to the entire Mobility vehicle fleet: 2’890 vehicles at 1’480 stations throughout the whole of Switzerland. This is precisely where Bich N. Phan sees a major benefit: "Since Mobility has network of stations all over Switzerland, we can be smart and combine public transportation with a Mobility car."
The scheme is popular among staff, too: in 2018, the bank's employees covered some 90’000 km using Mobility cars. For this reason, Zürcher Kantonalbank is already considering placing additional electric cars at other bank sites. It would even be possible to set up a Mobility station at a publicly accessible car park and make the electric cars available to all Mobility customers outside the bank’s business hours. In terms of progressive mobility, Zürcher Kantonalbank is a pioneer among the 4’700 companies using Mobility Business.
"Mobility makes sustainable transportation simple. Our experience has been positive, and we benefit from the company’s comprehensive service. The scheme is very popular among our employees and customers as well."
