Where can I rent a scooter?

In Zurich – the city at the northern end of Lake Zurich – there are 200 electric scooters available round the clock on a self-service basis inside a defined zone. Unlike Mobility car sharing there are no fixed stations.

When the user is finished with the scooter, it must always be parked inside the defined zone in a municipal two-wheeler/motorcycle parking facility. The parking spaces are very simple to find on the map in the Mobility app. If you do not yet have access to our app, this city map provides a good overview of parking facilities.

Parking rules

  • Only park in official two-wheeler/motorcycle parking spaces within the defined zone in Zurich. Parking is free of charge.
  • Pay careful attentions to the signs. Motorcycles are not allowed in all two-wheeler parking spaces: some are reserved for bicycles.
  • If the parking area is full, please do not place the scooter next to it. There are plenty of parking spaces directly nearby. Our app shows you where.
  • Do not park the scooter on pedestrian walkways or pavements.
  • Please note our Fair Play Rules and Fees (PDF)

All Mobility customers can use the new electric scooters in addition to all Mobility cars – whether they hold a private subscription or business subscription, as cooperative members or in connection with the free Click & Drive scheme. However, existing customers first have to have their driving licence checked (again) by Mobility. The scooters can be used by anyone who has least Category A1 entered in their driving licence.

Mobility rewards "safe riding"

In dense city traffic it's crucial to ensure an anticipatory riding style as well as a keeping a two-second safety distance from the vehicle in front. This means no abrupt braking is necessary and it gives you time to avoid stationary vehicles. When it is raining or starting to rain, it is especially important to ride and apply the brakes with care. The roads can be slippery – especially manhole covers, tramlines and road markings.

Anyone who hasn't ridden a scooter for some time is well advised to refresh their skills with an instructor. Mobility supports this with a one-off credit of CHF 30. Simply send in the scanned receipt with your Mobility number to office(at)mobility.ch. This offer is valid for driving lessons category A1 as well as if you attend a basic course to obtain an A1 driving licence for the first time.
