Mobility Carpool: the new free ride-sharing platform

Download app now

Mobility Carpool: ride sharing the easy way.

Mobility Carpool is a free ride-sharing platform for use by both drivers and passengers. The app is very simple: you can look for a ride or advertise a planned trip – whether in a Mobility car or a privately-owned vehicle.

How Mobility Carpool works:

  • Download the app and register once.
  • Advertise or look for rides. As soon as a booking is made, the driver and passenger are notified via app and can get into contact with each other.
  • The app shows more than 20’000 Matchingpoints* throughout the whole of Switzerland. The actual passenger pick-up is arranged by phone between driver and passenger.
  • Rides are paid for in advance by credit card. 80% of the amount is paid into the driver's bank account.

How are Mobility Carpool trips charged?

Transparent prices: with Mobility Carpool, passengers pay a fixed price per trip based on distance. The distance is calculated using Google Maps and does not correspond to the kilometres actually travelled (e.g. any detours made etc.). This means that the price is set and paid before the trip; it is not negotiable. The driver receives 80% of the amount charged, the rest goes to Mobility to cover the costs of running the scheme.

How do I register as a driver or passenger?

Mobility Carpool is open to everyone: membership of Mobility is not required. Download the Mobility Carpool app (iOS or Android) and register once. Have a profile picture ready. Mobility customers benefit from a shorter registration process. You also require:

  • Passengers: credit card details to enter in your profile.
  • Drivers: an IBAN number to enter in your profile, and a vehicle. In the menu, click on "Add privately-owned vehicle" or select your existing Mobility car sharing reservation.

Frequently asked questions

Can the app be used for rides abroad (e.g. to Paris or Hamburg)?

No, the Mobility Carpool scheme is limited to Switzerland. However, the nationality of the driver and passenger is irrelevant.

How can I use Carpool as an existing Mobility customer?

To use Mobility Carpool, you have to download the app and register once free of charge – whether you are a Mobility customer or not. Every time Mobility customers place a vehicle reservation, they can decide whether they wish to offer a ride to passengers on Carpool.

Who can see the details of my profile?

The app clearly shows what is visible to others and what isn't. During the search process, users see each other's profile picture along with the first name and the initial of the last name (e.g. Max B.). In the event of a match, an in-app connection is made between driver and passenger for communication purposes (if a driver or passenger calls, the number is visible). Anyone registering their privately-owned vehicle also has to provide details of their registration number, which can be seen by passengers.

How does Mobility monitor vehicle quality?

If Mobility vehicles are used for ride-sharing, we guarantee the familiar Mobility standards in terms of quality and safety. In the case of privately-owned vehicles, the responsibility lies with the provider. In our fair play rules we appeal to drivers to keep their vehicles in a clean, safe and in any case operable state – which they are legally obliged to do anyway. The rating function allows both good and bad reviews to be published.

How am I insured as a driver or passenger?

As a Mobility customer you are fully covered by third party, comprehensive and passenger insurance if a loss event occurs in a Mobility car.

Where privately-owned vehicles are used, the driver's own third party insurance applies. This is because all vehicle owners are required by law to take out third-party insurance in Switzerland. This always covers passengers, too.
